The Great Chocolate Biscuit Debate

The other day I was minding my business, Skyping with my parents and eating a Kit-Kat when Daddyo stops mid sentence and says

“Wait, what are you doing to that biscuit?”

This is not the first time I have been queried in disgusted tones regarding the way I am eating something chocolate covered.

You see, I always nibble the chocolate off the Kit-Kat first. I nibble the end of the first biscuit before continuing to nibble along the sides of the bar before chomping the bar down in order to start nibbling the second finger of said Kit-Kat and repeating the process all over again.

I do this with magnum ice creams too, much to Mr Maybe’s chagrin.

It’s a sickness.

I mean… Would I violate your eyeballs by nibbling away in the corner like a deranged hamster?

Probably

However – I really don’t think there is any other way to eat a Kit-Kat / Magnum.

The thing that interests me the most about any confectionary item covered in chocolate is the chocolate. I’m not going to lie and say that I love the chocolate coating and its content equally – because I don’t. Unless its covering Johnny Depp. But that’s the only exception to this rule.

Everyone I know has an opinion on the proper way to eat a chocolate covered biscuit / bar (such as a Kit-Kat).

There are three camps – chocolate nibblers, dunkers or purists who prefer to eat a biscuit all in one. Each think the other are completely weird and when it really comes down to it nobody can agree how the eating of said item should be done.

But then does it really matter?

It’s between you and the biscuit surely.

That being said… I knew a kid at school who liked to pretend he was torturing his digestive biscuit as he nibbled off the chocolate, dunked it in his Mums coffee and then ate it in big sloppy mouthfuls. He would make muted screaming noises throughout as if they were coming from the digestive.

And really – that is the marking of a psychopath when you think about it.

So keep an eye out parents. If little Tarquin is torturing his ‘Animal’ bar there may be bigger things to concern yourself with.
